Curriculum
The Kent County Collaborative Core Curriculum (KC4) is a teacher-created, standards-based mastery curriculum developed to make the standards and benchmarks of the Michigan Curriculum Framework (MCF) meaningful to and usable for the classroom teacher, and to assist schools in their efforts toward student achievement.
KC4 standards are aligned (where applicable) with the state-established Grade Level Content Expecations (GLCE), as required by the Michigan Department of Education.
Mathematics, English language arts, science and social studies are the core subject areas included within KC4. Classroom instruction is guided by the KC4 curriculum and is supplemented by the texts and other resources used at each grade level.
KC4 provides the blueprint whereby student achievement and success may be monitored, assessed and developed.
All standards, standard analyses, assessments and resources in KC4 are the collaborative product of educators from local school districts, Dr. Linda Edwards of Academic Management Systems and the Kent ISD staff.
